A Barn Owl at King's Meads, 5th May 2021

Last year the Barn Owl's had been using one of the nest boxes on the Meads so time to see if they had returned. It was a fairly calm, sunny evening so hopes were high. First up however was this Wren.

In the same spot a Reed Bunting sat up nicely.

So far, no sign of a Barn Owl and I attempted and failed to photograph a few Swifts hawking over the New River. Casually turning around, the Barn Owl was quartering the Mead!

It perched up a couple of times before continuing to hunt.

It hunted successfully and here is a final shot of it flying off with prey. Such magical birds!
