A beautiful day weather wise, so a local trip to Amwell in search of any early Spring arrivals. A few Chiffchaff were calling, but no early Waders or Sand Martins. Just across Hollycross Road a pair of Mistle Thrush were foraging, a Red Kite drifting past and a quick fly through of the local female Kestrel.

A surprise visitor to the reserve was an Apache Longbow attack helicopter!

However the highlight of the visit was a very confiding Treecreeper near the James hide which spent at least 15 minutes on two large tree stumps allowing some close shots and most of the time not obscured by the usual twigs!

As the sun went down, a last quick scan from the Viewpoint where the long staying Great Egret flew in close in perfect light. Always something to see and enjoy, and those Summer migrants will be here soon.
