(Black-crowned) Night Heron at Thorndon CP, Essex, 26th April 2023

There has been a mini influx of Night Heron's across the country, obviously overshooting their continental Europe range. With news of one only 50 minutes away it would have been rude not to pop across the border and try to see it. It had been fishing earlier but when we arrived it was sleeping in the Willows. My first shot was fairly typical!

Every so often it would stir, giving slightly better views.

A nice bird and a UK lifer to boot.
