My annual trip up to North Herts for Spotted Flycatchers. A pair were showing well at the usual haunt in Wallington. Initially, a distant shot in the garden next door, but with patience, they came closer, perched up and darting out for insects.

Great little birds and always fascinating to observe them! Next stop was Church Hill, Therfield Heath for Adonis Blue butterflies. Whilst I have been to this general area before, Church Hill was a new location. The first butterfly to show was a Small Heath.

A few Brown Argus were also in evidence.

The plant life there is beautiful, and a few favourites are shown below.

But the real stars of the show were the Adonis Blue butterflies, vibrant in the sunshine and lots on the wing and mating.
